Description

Some memories are too precious to leave behind.

Our Teardrop Stud Earrings offer a beautiful, understated way to carry a little piece of someone you love, wherever life takes you.

With their softly curved teardrop shape and polished precious metal surrounds, these delicate earrings are designed to hold your most treasured memories within two individually handcrafted Heartstones.

Each Heartstone can incorporate ashes, hair, fur, breastmilk or other meaningful personal elements, carefully preserved beneath a smooth, glass-like finish.

Choose from a beautiful selection of colours, shimmering opals and crushed gemstones, or allow your personal elements to remain naturally visible. Both earrings can be created to match, or personalised individually to represent two different memories or connections.

Available in 925 sterling silver or solid 9ct yellow gold, their timeless design makes them equally suited to everyday wear and special occasions.

Whether remembering someone dearly missed, celebrating a beloved companion or holding onto a precious chapter of your life, each pair is made with care, compassion and an understanding of just how much the smallest things can mean.

Because even the smallest keepsake can hold a lifetime of love.

Once we have received your ashes, hair, fur, breastmilk or other personal elements, your piece will usually be completed within 1–3 weeks.

Custom & Made-to-Order Sterling Silver | Up to Approximately 10 Weeks
Certain sterling silver designs are specially manufactured or made to order. These pieces may take up to approximately 10 weeks, including manufacture, any required hallmarking and the careful creation of your personalised Heartstone.
Where applicable, longer turnaround times will be clearly communicated.

Priority Orders
A priority service may be available for selected sterling silver pieces at an additional charge, subject to availability. Please contact us before ordering if you require your jewellery for a particular date.

Solid 9ct Gold | Approximately 8–10 Weeks
Our solid 9ct gold jewellery is generally made to order, with each piece individually crafted in your chosen yellow, white or rose gold.
The estimated turnaround time is 8–10 weeks, including manufacture, hallmarking where legally required and the careful creation of your personalised Heartstone using your treasured personal elements.

In-Stock Gold Jewellery
Occasionally, we have selected solid 9ct gold designs available from stock. These pieces may be completed sooner, depending on the design and current workload.
Please contact us to enquire about available stock or a particular completion date.

Important Information About Turnaround Times
All turnaround times are estimates rather than guaranteed or binding completion dates.
We always do our very best to complete and dispatch your jewellery sooner than estimated. However, as every piece is individually handcrafted, occasional delays may occur due to circumstances outside our control, including supplier delays, manufacturing times or hallmarking requirements.
Should any unexpected delays arise, we will always keep you informed and communicate any changes to your estimated completion date.

We never compromise on quality by rushing a piece through production.
Every Heartstones® creation is individually handcrafted with the patience, precision and attention to detail it deserves. Your treasured personal elements are irreplaceable, and we believe that creating something so meaningful should never be rushed at the expense of quality.

Hallmarking & Precious Metals

Our precious metal jewellery is crafted from genuine solid 925 sterling silver or 9ct gold, depending on your chosen option, rather than plated base metal.
Under UK hallmarking regulations, sterling silver articles weighing more than 7.78g and gold articles weighing more than 1g require an official hallmark, subject to applicable exemptions.
Where legally required, your jewellery will be independently hallmarked by a recognised UK Assay Office.

For necklace orders: A matching precious metal chain is included in the same metal as your chosen pendant. Chains falling below the relevant legal hallmarking threshold may be supplied without an individual hallmark.
If you would prefer your chain to be independently hallmarked, please contact us before ordering to discuss availability and any additional costs.

Metal Information & Properties

Solid 9ct Gold & 925 Sterling Silver

At Heartstones®, many of our memorial jewellery designs are available in both sterling silver and solid 9ct gold, allowing you to choose the precious metal that best suits your personal style, preferences and budget.

Both are genuine precious metals, offering timeless beauty and lasting sentimental value.

925 Sterling Silver

  • Genuine precious metal: Contains 92.5% pure silver, alloyed with other metals for strength and durability.
  • Beautiful bright finish: A classic, reflective silver-white appearance that complements a wide range of memorial colours.
  • Affordable luxury: Offers the beauty and quality of genuine precious metal at a more accessible price than solid gold.
  • Versatile: Suitable for everyday jewellery when treated with appropriate care.
  • Natural tarnishing: Sterling silver may tarnish over time, particularly when exposed to moisture, cosmetics and certain chemicals. This is normal and can usually be removed with appropriate cleaning.
  • Everyday wear: Fine scratches and surface marks may develop through regular use.

Solid 9ct Gold

  • Genuine precious metal: Contains 37.5% pure gold, alloyed with other metals for strength and colour.
  • Solid throughout: Unlike gold-plated jewellery, the gold alloy extends throughout the piece.
  • Choice of colours: Available in yellow, white and rose gold, depending on the design.
  • Durable: Suitable for regularly worn jewellery with appropriate care.
  • Precious metal value: Retains intrinsic gold value.
  • Everyday wear: Gold can develop fine scratches and surface marks over time.

Understanding Gold Colours

Yellow Gold

Traditional warm golden tones that do not normally require plating to maintain their appearance.

Rose Gold

A beautiful pinkish-gold colour created by copper within the alloy. Its natural colour extends throughout the metal.

White Gold

White gold is created by combining pure gold with lighter-coloured alloying metals.

Natural white gold typically has a slightly warm, greyish or champagne-toned appearance rather than a bright silver-white finish.

Our white gold jewellery is normally rhodium plated to create a bright, reflective white finish.

  • Rhodium plating may gradually wear through regular use.
  • The natural colour of the white gold underneath may become visible over time.
  • Rhodium plating can be professionally renewed when necessary.
  • If you prefer natural, unplated white gold, please contact us before ordering. We can arrange this where available.

Hallmarking & Authenticity

Our sterling silver and solid 9ct gold jewellery is independently hallmarked where required by UK law.

  • 925: Sterling silver fineness.
  • 375: 9ct gold fineness.

Please refer to our Hallmarking & Precious Metals section for further information.

Which Metal Should I Choose?

Sterling silver may be ideal if you:

  • Prefer a bright, classic silver appearance.
  • Want genuine precious metal at a more affordable price.
  • Don't mind occasional polishing to maintain its appearance.

Solid 9ct gold may be ideal if you:

  • Prefer yellow, rose or white gold.
  • Want a piece made from a solid gold alloy rather than plated base metal.
  • Prefer the traditional appearance and intrinsic precious metal value of gold.

Caring for Your Jewellery

Both metals benefit from gentle cleaning, careful storage and protection from harsh chemicals, abrasive products and unnecessary impacts.

Sterling silver can be polished with a suitable silver polishing cloth, avoiding the personalised memorial setting.

Rhodium-plated white gold should not be cleaned using abrasive polishing products, as these may prematurely wear away the plating.

Remove your jewellery before swimming, cleaning or undertaking activities that could damage the metal or memorial setting.

Please remember: Although the metals have different properties, the personalised setting containing your treasured ashes, hair, fur, breastmilk or other elements deserves the same gentle care regardless of which metal you choose.
